Dear members of Jack London Society, is it possible to find out more about the Snark crew members? I work for a local museum in Kemerovo (Russia, Siberia), we have a vast collection of documents related to the history of the Autonomous Industrial Colony Kuzbass (1921 – 1926): it was a group of enthusiastic politically active foreigners who came to Soviet Russia to improve the local industry. While reading Powers Hapgood diary (he visited the colony in 1925), I came across a certain colonist of Irish-American origin named Mangus who told Hapgood he and his wife had participated in the famous Snark cruise with Jack London. I got curious and wanted to check on the information, but an internet search did ot give any results. Would you kindly advise me on the matter?

I have a pair of sterling napkin rings purchased by my maternal grandmother in the 1970’s reputed to have belonged to Jack and Carmian given to him by his mother. Is it at all possible to authenticate them through a photograph or letter or some other means of documentation?

Is a paper on Gelett Burgess, who was a member of Jack London’s circle, appropriate for the conference?
Regarding the Snark crew: From Oakland to Hawaii, Aside from Jack and Charmian, there was Roscoe Eames, Martin Johnson, Tochigi, and Herbert Stolz Leaving from Hawaii, there was James Langhorne Warren, Martin Johnson, Hermann deVisser, Yoshimatsu Nakata, and Tsunekichi Wada. In Tahiti and Samoa they added Tehei and Henry. These are the only crew members I am aware of.
