The dog has no name. A generic Husky native to the Yukon, there’s nothing special about this dog. Unlike Buck in The Call of the Wild, it has no history, no memory. Untouched by human love, this dog is always referred to as an “it,” inhabiting the impersonal third-person pronoun matter-of-factly, without fuss.
